Tax Preparation

A study released by the US Government’s General Accounting Office last year stated that a majority of taxpayers, 77% of 71 million people, believed they benefited from using a professional tax preparer.

The tax laws today are complicated enough to make filing a simple return confusing. It’s easy to be unaware of deductions, and credits you are entitled to. There is no substitute for the help of an experienced tax professional.

Here’s what you get…

Your tax return is checked and rechecked. Identifying potential problems that the IRS may look at closer, and reviewing the math to limit IRS contacts.

Your tax return is filed electronically.  So your refund gets to you faster.

Your tax interview is specifically designed for you and will identify potential deductions that may reduce your tax liability for this year and future years

Tax Planning

After your tax return is filed we are available to our clients year-round, outside of tax time,  to provide tax planning, answer tax questions that may come up during the year or provide other valuable tax assistance. We serve as your trusted tax advisors.

The essence of tax planning then is to calculate if  you should pay taxes today or in the future. We do that with a timing strategy by either accelerating income or deferring income and by accelerating deductions or deferring deductions.

Tax Resolution

Audit Representation

The odds are the IRS will not audit your individual income tax return, unless the return has an audit flag, such as reported income less than a person could live on; a home office deduction; large deductions of any kind in relation to income, especially business losses and charitable contributions; or perennial business loss deductions.

As your audit representative I will develop the strategy needed to defend you. I will assist you  in preparing all documents requested by the taxing authority and will attend all meetings and handle correspondence on your behalf.

What else we provide?

Installment Agreement

If you can't pay your tax bill to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in full, There are options . One of those options is a long-term payment plan, also known as an installment agreement. An installment agreement is an option when you anticipate taking more than 120 days (about four months) to pay your tax bill. You must file all of your tax returns before you apply. The IRS will charge you interest while you're paying your bill and may file a federal tax lien until you pay in full. Contact us for more information and to see if you qualify.

Injured Spouse

An injured spouse claim can help you get back your part of a tax refund from a joint tax return. It applies where the IRS has intercepted the refund to offset a debt owed by your spouse but not by you. However, you might have an injured spouse claim if your spouse: had student loans from before your marriage or fell behind in making child support payments for children from another relationship, or owed federal income tax from a year in which you filed separately.
Contact us for more information and help on completing Federal Form 8857, Request for Innocent Spouse Relief.

Offer In Comprise (OIC)

It is sometimes possible to wipe your tax slate clean at an enormous discount. If you qualify for something known as the offer in compromise, referred to as an "offer" or "OIC," the IRS will accept less than the amount a taxpayer owes on a tax bill and call it even. Merely wanting to make a deal with the IRS is not enough -- everyone would like to have his tax bill reduced. However you must "qualify" , then apply for an OIC.
